Your information and safety
JoyPlate helps you plan meals and record your own experiences. It does not diagnose celiac disease, allergies, or symptoms, and it cannot certify a product, recipe, restaurant, or kitchen as safe.
What you save
Your meal swaps, avoid list, recipes, grocery checks, budget estimates, goals, reflections, and body notes are kept in this browser. If JoyPlate shows “Saved across your signed-in devices” in Settings, these entries are also stored on JoyPlate’s server under your signed-in account. Otherwise, they stay in this browser unless you export or share them.
Use Settings to download a copy or clear your saved JoyPlate data. If signed-in sync is active, reconnect after clearing while offline and check the sync status so the deletion can reach the server. Clearing app data does not delete an account you use with another service.
Basic visitor counts
JoyPlate counts app opens and browsing sessions using a random identifier stored in a browser tab. A new session starts when more than 30 minutes pass between app opens in the same tab. The counter does not store names, emails, IP addresses, food profiles, or private notes. Records older than 90 days are removed when another visit is recorded; only the JoyPlate owner can see the dashboard. You can turn counting off in Settings. We also respect browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals. Counts start when this feature is published and cannot recover earlier visits.
Outside services
Barcode lookup requests product information from Open Food Facts. Recipe import sends the website address to JoyPlate’s server, which requests that public recipe page. Music players and shopping or restaurant links may contact Spotify, Apple Music, retailers, maps, and restaurant directories when you use them. If you choose to share feedback, a grocery list, or a backup, your device’s sharing tools send it to the recipient you choose. Those services have their own privacy practices.
Make your own safety check
Community product records, recipe imports, ingredient matching, and restaurant reviews may be incomplete or outdated. Read current package labels, confirm gluten-free claims and cross-contact practices, and ask your clinician or dietitian about personal health questions.
Current availability
Owner-only Stripe sandbox tests use simulated payments. A separate owner-only live checkout check uses real payment details and a 7-day trial followed by $6.99 USD/month until canceled; the owner can cancel before the trial ends to avoid charges. Public early access remains free. Stripe handles payment details. JoyPlate stores the signed-in account ID, checkout reference, Stripe customer and subscription IDs, subscription status, trial dates, and billing event IDs. These are private to the owner account and do not include food preferences or journal entries. Unfinished checkout references expire after 90 minutes and are cleared on a later checkout attempt.
If you separately choose optional JoyPlate updates while entering the movie-night giveaway, we also store your name and email, the date of your request, its source, and a private withdrawal token on the updates list. Only the JoyPlate owner can view or export this list. We do not collect food profiles or health notes through the signup. The confirmation page lets you withdraw; otherwise the request remains saved until withdrawn or deleted. Email delivery and address verification are not active yet. The checkbox is optional and does not affect giveaway entry or payment.
If you enter the movie-night giveaway, we store your name, email, entry time, and the version of rules you accepted to administer the drawing and contact the winner. Only the JoyPlate owner can view or export entries; giveaway emails are not added to the optional marketing list. We request a mailing address privately only from the selected winner. The winning email and drawing time are recorded so the prize can be fulfilled. To request removal of your entry or ask about this information, email taishamilligantm@gmail.com. Removal before the drawing withdraws your entry. We will remove giveaway entry records after prize fulfillment and any required recordkeeping.
JoyPlate is a public web app in an early release. Paid subscriptions are not open to public visitors, and an App Store download is not yet available. This page will be updated before either is introduced.
